Ian Farr

Ian Farr is a Sales Manager at Edina and a renowned biogas specialist in Anaerobic Digestion (AD) within the waste and water treatment sectors for over 35 years.

In the 1990s, Ian worked for the Energy Technology Support Unit - a government research and development group for renewable energy and energy efficiency based at Harwell (now part of Ricardo-AEA) in the area of AD of waste. Ian was also the UK's representative to the IEA Task 11 AD of agricultural and household waste. Then before taking a senior position at a commercial organisation developing, proving, and launching Micronutrient Trace Elements for industrial AD plants.

Since joining Edina in 2006, his knowledge and expertise have helped develop AD best practices in delivering over 200MWe installed capacity spanning over 160 biogas projects across the UK, Ireland, and Australia. His keen enthusiasm has supported farmers, food and drink, waste management and the sewage water treatment sectors to reduce energy costs and carbon emissions, advocating the circular economy.

More recently, Ian has been working with several clients to deliver co-located hybrid power solutions using AD, biogas, hydrogen-ready gas engines, battery energy storage, and UPS systems as part of the energy transition.
